Street furniture, or indoor-outdoor objects that play functional roles in social space, pairs the refined effect of natural materials with sculptural gestures. The seating reminiscent of animal figures are complemented by public fountains, light fixtures, and spatial dividing walls.
Her work retains its aesthetic emphasis even in the design of specialty functional claddings and finishes, such as acoustic tiles. Her award winning, patented acoustic finishes – the Adessys line – absorb or diffuse sound, for application in concert halls or home theatres alike.
In the design of individual, unique masonry heaters or hearths she does not create reproductions. Instead her work reflects strongly on its context, paraphrasing historical motifs and styles as required, drawing inspiration from time and place. Her work becomes a functional part of an interior, both aesthetically and practically.
Her sculptures ground architecturally functional works in a theoretical and artistic tradition, demonstrating an object’s role in place making by displaying its particularities and the unusual qualities of its visuality.
Tableware manufactured in short runs is made from high quality porcelain, as are the conceptual objects. Such is the Seeds of wisdom series: composed of two pieces that fit together, yet also fitting snugly in the hand, or the origami figures cast in porcelain.
She designs and produces fountains, drinking fountains, and sculptures incorporating water in collaboration with landscape architects as well as with water engineers. Her pieces and series often perform functional and environmental comfort roles: providing drinking water, light, or warmth.
